The WCRP Spring Conference & Board Meeting is next week! We are thrilled to have you join us for great sessions that you won’t want to miss, along with fun and engaging networking opportunities with your fellow members! Don’t forget that the last day to sign-up for the Cornhole Tournament is March 24. The link is provided below so you can snag your spot and shoot your way to victory!

Come prepared to explore a wide array of nearby attractions appealing to varying interests and tastes, such as museums, shopping, comedy, theaters, and more! Pack your walking shoes and warm clothes to keep you comfortable as you discover what Tacoma has to offer during down time. EVENT REGISTRATION IS CLOSED!
EVENT LOCATION, LODGING, & PARKING:

HOTEL MURANO - 1320 Broadway, Tacoma, WA 98402 - MAP

Guest lodging is at the Hotel Murano and the deadline to reserve rooms under the group room block at the per diem rate has closed. To update, change, or cancel your reservation, please contact the hotel directly, at (253) 238-8000.

OVERNIGHT LODGING REMINDERS:

- Check in is at 3:00pm and check out is at 11:00am

- Guests who cancel by 11:59pm local hotel time 2 days prior to arrival date will avoid a cancellation fee of 1 night room and tax. If you need to cancel or change your reservation, please contact the Hotel Murano directly at the number listed above. Please note that cancellation fees are not eligible for reimbursement.

- $75 incidental + room rate per night will be held from check in to check out. Release of funds will vary based on your financial institution, typically 5-7 business days.

PARKING 

Guests attending the WCRP event will receive discounted parking rates in lots accessible from Broadway and from 15th Street. Check out the Hotel Murano’s parking map, which shows the loading/unloading zone, parking lots, and building entrances. Please note that parking in levels A and B will be the closest for attendees. 

Overnight Rate: Complimentary | Guests lodging overnight will provide their license plate number to the front desk at check in for free parking. 

Daytime Rate: $16/day | Guests not lodging overnight will select the WCRP group from the parking kiosk paybox to receive the discounted rate and will pay by credit/debit card (cash not accepted).

BOARD MEETING MATERIALS:

Board members are encouraged to bring county issued laptops or tablets to the meeting so they can follow along electronically. For those who do not bring a county issued device, the WCRP will have electronic tablets available for use during the meeting. The Board meeting packet will be made available within the Governance section of the WCRP website, and Board members can expect to see more from WCRP Executive Director, Derek Bryan, once the materials are ready for viewing. If you have trouble accessing the digital packet, please email MemberServices@wcrp.wa.gov.

If paper is preferred, Board members should print and bring meeting packet materials of their choosing, as the meeting packet will not be available in printed format.

CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT:

Dust off those beanbags for WCRP’s own March Madness with our first ever Cornhole Tournament Thursday evening!! Brackets will be created at random ahead of time so be sure to claim your spot by signing up by Friday, March 24. ATTIRE:

The event will be held indoors with a casual/business casual dress code encouraged. Please pack attire that will fit this location knowing the time of year and weather to be expected, to include jackets and shoes suitable for exploring the area in your free time. We recommend that you dress in layers when attending the sessions to help keep you more comfortable in varying temperatures.

WCRP REIMBURSEMENTS:

The WCRP will reimburse attendees in accordance with the Travel Reimbursement GuideAll costs being submitted for reimbursement will require accompanying receipts and documentation along with the completed Travel Expense VoucherPlease note details regarding the following reimbursements.  

Travel/Lodging – Those traveling more than 50 miles one way, or those closer than 50 miles that are attending later afternoon/evening events followed by the next day’s morning sessions, are eligible for lodging reimbursements. Room charges and meals not provided at the event are to be paid by the attendee or county. The WCRP will reimburse up to two nights lodging (Wednesday and Thursday) for the Board Director, the Claims Administrator, and the Risk Manager based upon the Travel Reimbursement Guide and for only the days noted. For those not lodging overnight, daytime parking will be reimbursed up to $16/day.

Meals – Meals provided by the WCRP are not eligible for meal cost reimbursement. Meals indicated on the schedule as “Dinner on your own” will qualify for reimbursement and will be subject to guidelines in the Travel Reimbursement Guide.

DISTANCING PROTOCOLS:
Attendee safety continues to be a priority for WCRP. Per state & local mandates, masks are welcomed at the event but are not required. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available onsite, along with a color system on name badges to indicate your personal comfort levels (green: handshakes approved; yellow: elbows only; red: greet from 6 feet).
